Q: rRestaurator does not show all of my files,  although I ran ResyncAll.

A: Did you choose a folder as target that already contained source files ? If you did for example manually copy files and folders to a 2nd drive as backup and now use the very same folder as target for rReplikator, then only new or changed files will be copied by rReplikator. Only copied files will have a version in your history folder.  rRestaurator shows these versions. To have all your files versioned, delete the targetfolder and run Resync again.

Q:  All of a sudden a rReplikator is stopped

Did you try do delete or to rename the directory set as rReplikators source while rReplikator was running? rReplikator will stop if you try to do so and you have to manually exit and restart rReplikator. If rReplikator does not find the source directory at start up time rReplikator will ask you for a new source directory.

rReplikator will show a message when target or history are not available – and disables the rReplikator with that problem. Do you replicate to an attached device like an USB-disk, that is not attached or not attached right? Please enable this rReplikator again or re-start the whole application.

Q: When starting my application,  I'm getting an error message like "can not access data"

A: rReplikator copies changed files in the background. If an application tries to access a file while rReplikator is still copying the application it will see a locked file. Well behaved application will ask the user on how to proceed and the user can tell the application to try it again. If this problem occurs with saving data, try saving data under a different name (or wait until rReplikator finished its work).

Q:  rReplikator keeps my system busy!

A: Are you working with huge files that change very often ?  Set AskSize to a value lower the size of this files and decide manually whether to replicate the file or not.

Q: Not files are replicated at all, but settings seem to be ok.

A:  rReplikator is installable on Win98 and WinME if DotNET is already installed, but rReplikation will not work. Or did you try to replicate files from a mapped network drive? rReplikator is only able to watch the file system of local drives. Please install rReplikator on the machine where the files to be replicated reside.  Or do you replicate data produced by programs not installed on the machine rReplikator runs on? These data might be of file types not known to rReplikator. Let rReplikator learn these file types via “SetUp | types | learn file types” or set “Setup | Admin | Learn new types “

Q: Not all files are replicated - how can that be?

A:  Per default these files are excluded from replication:  system files , hidden files,  temporary files,  files showing a “~” in their name or extension,  “.tmp” files and “thumbs.db” files. Only file types registered on the machine rReplikator is running on and white listed file types will be replicated. Please check the types of files not replicated. If they are al the same, add this type to the white list.

Locked files are not copied either. These file are checked every minute. If a file is still locked when rReplikator is shut down it will not be replicated.

The BlackList tells rReplikator what files not to replicate. Any file having a black list item in its name or extension will not be replicated. A black list entry "priv" will  prevent files like "private letter" or "this is private" from being replicated, but a file like "all privileged customers" as well.

Q: How can I prevent a dedicated file from being replicated.

A: In "Types | Blacklist" choose "browse for file" from the context menu to add the complete file name to the black list. Watch out - every file with that name, no matter what sub-folder it is in, will be excluded!

Q : I changed hardware and now rReplikator does not start any more.

A: Delete all “Ini”-Files under “C:\Program Files\rReplikator. After deleting the ini-files rReplikator will start with no rReplikators defined.

Q:  How to replicate only dedicated file types ?

A: If you want only dedicated file types to be replicated, then add all registered file types to the blacklist and all white listed file types as well. Both lists have a function "all to black list". The look for the file type you plan to be replicated in the new black list. Select the file type and right click for the context menu "to white list".

Blacklist is always the first thing to be checked. All files who have black listed elements in their name will not be replicated. Do not worry about lengthy black list. Looking it up is a quite fast process.
